60 Years of 5 Pin Bowling
Chinook Bowladrome is as old as Chinook Center. In fact, we're the only original business left in the mall.
We are the largest 5-pin bowling centre in Calgary, with 32 lanes. We've hosted countless tournaments ranging from city-wide to provincial and national events.
About The Sport
5-pin bowling was invented in 1909 by Thomas Ryan in Ontario after customers complained that 10-pin bowling was too strenuous. The bowling balls in 5-pin are much smaller and lighter than their 10-pin counterparts, making it easier for people to participate.
A perfect game in 5-pin bowling is 450 points, a feat that most 5-pin bowlers don't achieve! With 18 inches between each pin, it’s much easier than you think to only hit one at a time.
We’re Canadian!
5-pin bowling is Canadian, meaning you won’t find it outside of the country very often!
This also means the highest level of competition for 5-pin bowlers is at the national level.
