Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and our province declaring a state of emergency which includes the closure of all recreation and entertainment facilities, Chinook Bowladrome has closed its doors for the time being. All league play, tournaments and public bowling will be put on hold. (https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=69828242A5FFC-D75A-C83E-690D8028C0C4E09F)
While we had hoped to keep our doors open until the end of league season, we felt it was no longer the safest decision for our customers and staff. The safety of everyone has always been and will continue to be our number one priority.
We know there’s a lot of questions being asked so please continue reading as we hope to answer all of them.
Regarding our YBC league, we will be keeping our scheduled banquet date of April 18th, 2020. Please keep in mind that if we do not deem it to be safe to have the banquet in April then we will look into rescheduling it.
The Youth Challenge Nationals has been canceled for the time being and we expect with the new restrictions and concerns that more events will be canceled. We will do our best to update you when we can, but we do suggest checking in on social media outlets and websites for any events you are scheduled to participate in.
As many of you know we are one of the centres hosting the Youth Championships that was scheduled to take place May 3-5th 2020. Bowl Canada has announced that due to this pandemic that the YBC Nationals will NOT proceed during this timeframe. They are looking into rescheduling during the summer months if all goes well. As soon as we are provided information regarding any new dates we will update you on our Facebook page and website.
Pee Wee Intracity was scheduled to be held in Okotoks on Sunday, March 22nd. This event is now cancelled but we’re hoping to reschedule it in the not too distant future. Again, we will let you know when we have more information.
Our spring leagues are still scheduled to begin in April but we may have to postpone or cancel them if we do not deem it safe to go through with them. If we do decide to make changes to the spring leagues we will post that here, on our website and we will give those signed up a phone call.
We understand all of the concerns our bowlers have, and we will continue to monitor the situation on a routine basis. As updates occur, we will post them here on Facebook as well as on the main page of our website. If you have any questions or other concerns while we’re closed please reach out to us here on Facebook through a private message. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can with as many answers as we’re able to give you. Please understand there is still a lot we don’t know and therefore, we may not be able to provide you with all the information you’re looking for right away.
To our league bowlers: THANK YOU for another great season, we’re sad to see it end early as we truly enjoy and appreciate seeing each one of you every week. We hope that you all stay home and safe during this time and we’re already excited to see you back next year!
Again, please reach out to us on Facebook with any questions you may have. We will continue to post updates as we receive them.
Thank you for your continued support and we will see you soon…we hope!!
Please note that from September to April we have limited availability for public bowling due to league play. For public bowling times please visit our "Public Bowling" page for an updated weekly schedule.
Welcome! We are a 32 lane 5 pin bowling centre located in Chinook centre. Our centre opened in 1960 and is the only original business still left in the mall.
We offer glow in the dark bowling on weekends and have 3 party rooms available for birthdays and corporate events.
Our centre has leagues available every day of the week and is great for all ages! The youth bowling starts as young as 3 years old and we have bowlers well into their 90s! We mean it when we say we "have leagues for everyone!"
Due to our leagues we have limited availability for public bowling from September through April and therefore we always recommend calling in to reserve a lane. Keep in mind that it's always best to reserve a few days to a week in advance to ensure a spot is still available!
We look forward to seeing you soon! In the meantime take a look at our Facebook page so you can always stay up to date on what's going on at our centre!
